International property and construction consultancy Gleeds has continued the expansion of its business in the Middle East with the launch of its regional headquarters in Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It marked the occasion with an exclusive reception hosted at the British Embassy in Riyadh last night, featuring keynote speech from five-time Olympic gold medallist and Gleeds global ambassador, Sir Steve Redgrave.

Hosted by the British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Neil Crompton, the event was attended by local business leaders and representatives of the Foreign Office, as well as Gleeds staff and clients from across the region. The opening follows Gleeds’ appointment to key roles on a number of high-profile schemes in the Kingdom, including the Engineering and Technical Support Department (ETSD) framework for NEOM, the company behind Saudi Arabia’s £362 billion ($500 billion) futuristic metropolis.

Richard Steer, Chairman of Gleeds Worldwide, said, “With an impressive future construction pipeline of planned projects, Saudi Arabia represents an enormous opportunity for Gleeds. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has pledged to develop the Kingdom and strengthen its economy as part of his Vision 2030 programme. This ambitious reform strategy aims to diversify the economy, attract foreign investment and create jobs for the local Saudi  talent. Gleeds is pleased to be  one of the first businesses to collaborate closely with the country’s Ministry of Investment (MISA) to launch its regional headquarters office in the Kingdom and offer support in its endeavours to deliver on Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s transformative Vision 2030 plans.

He went on to add, It is vital to us that we cement our presence in the Kingdom under the leadership of our newly appointed CEO Ghaith Hamade. We were delighted to welcome so many colleagues and clients to our official launch party and I look forward to building on the success we have already seen, delivering Gleeds’ brand of excellence directly to both public and private sector clients in this exciting and burgeoning market”.

Her Britannic Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Neil Crompton said, “We are pleased to support all businesses from the United Kingdom that wish to grow their business and establish their offices in Saudi Arabia. The relationship between the UK and Saudi Arabia is multi-faceted, we are strategic partners of the Kingdom and work together across a range of sectors to enhance economic interests of both our countries.  Gleeds’ decision to place its regional headquarters here is very much welcomed and it shows a strong commitment to the country and our partnership.”
