Queen to open Pebble Mill hospital scheme in Birmingham
The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, will open the new dental hospital and dental school at Pebble Mill in Birmingham, as part of her majesty’s visit to the city on Thursday 19th November.
The opening of the centre is the significant step in a fascinating transformation of the former BBC Pebble Mill studios into the first integrated, stand-alone dental hospital and school of dentistry in the UK. The facility is part of a wider redevelopment programme designed to attract health and medical science companies into the West Midlands. Gleeds has carried out cost management services for associated works packages and has been appointed as a property project manager by the hospital’s new tenant.
Commenting on Gleeds’ work, Gleeds Director for the Midlands Lindsay McCombe said: “It has been a pleasure working on such a popular site and we hope the final result pleases both healthcare professionals and patients.”
After the hospital’s royal opening, the site will employ more than 1,000 people and redefines Birmingham’s reputation as a medicine and learning hub.
