Sir Steve Redgrave joins Gleeds for double celebration

Four years since his last visit, five time Olympic gold medallist and Gleeds’ global ambassador, Sir Steve Redgrave, returned to Brasserie Blanc in Bristol’s Cabot Circus today to celebrate the business’ recent success in the region, and to formally introduce Chris Paxford as the new chair of the company’s south west operation.

During the exclusive lunch event Sir Steve addressed an invited audience of 30 local clients including guests from Savills, Change Real Estate, Formal Investments, Muse Developments and other local businesses.

“It was a real pleasure to have been invited back to Bristol to herald in a new era for Gleeds” said Sir Steve. “Four years ago I spoke about the legacy of London 2012 and the positive impact the spirit of the Games had made across the country - it is fantastic to see that optimism continuing here, with a new head of operations for Gleeds in the south west and a host of exciting developments getting underway across the region.” he added.

Chris Paxford had been heading up Gleeds’ UK project management business for over two years, however he spent much of his former career based in the south west. In his new role, he will assume responsibility across the region and for the consultancy’s offices in Bristol, Cardiff and Gloucester, all of which are currently experiencing periods of rapid growth.

Staff numbers in Cardiff alone have tripled over the last five years, with both the Bristol and Gloucester offices expected to double in size over the coming three as a result of the business’ continued expansion and on the back of major projects in healthcare and nuclear.

Commenting on his appointment, Chris Paxford said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to mark a new beginning for Gleeds in the south west and I am privileged to have shared the stage today with Olympic legend, Sir Steve Redgrave. It is not often you get a chance to hear from someone who has been as successful as Sir Steve and I for one will go away from today feeling inspired to take up the reins and build on Gleeds’ recent successes across the region.”
