Sir Steve Redgrave CBE won 5 gold medals as a rower for Great Britain at 5 consecutive Olympic Games from 1984 to 2000, and went on to raise in excess of $7.5 million for charity, exceeding his target and breaking records.

He joined as Gleeds’ Global Ambassador in 2006 – celebrating high profile projects, hosting networking events and inspiring our people. Sir Steve was the first and last Olympian to carry the torch at the London 2012 games, welcomed by a crowd of construction professionals who created the stadium.

Shared values

The decision to work with Sir Steve was an easy one. His values match closely with those of Gleeds: strong, successful, unique, trusted and professional – he is an iconic hero who has inspired a generation and beyond.

Developing talent

Our business is all about people. Sir Steve has played an integral role in motivating our talented professionals. His mantra, encouraging every individual to “be the best”, is shared on many of our visits to schools and local community projects.

World class

With a family background in construction, Sir Steve talks with great insight about what it takes to create world class facilities, drawing on his experience as an athlete, a spectator and a presenter at the Olympic Games.

The five times Olympic gold medallist inspires audiences with his achievements and reflections throughout his career, often discussing themes of focus, teamwork and strategy.

We’re very proud of our relationship with Sir Steve and what we’ve achieved together.

My long-standing association with Gleeds is one that I am truly proud of. Gleeds is an international business who appreciate both their clients and employees, representing a culture and set of values that I can identify with. I am pleased to continue to work with Gleeds, developing their profile and presence in their local communities and worldwide. Sir Steve Redgrave, Gleeds Global Ambassador
